‘Bible 4 Life’ events are happening around the country - in Cambridge you are asked to ‘open up something priceless’ and look at the content, not just the history.

After thousands of years of history and 400 years of publication, the world’s best-selling book is still bang up to date

2011 is a significant year for many, not least for those interested in literary history. It is the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Version of the Bible; the international best seller and probably the most widely read book in the world. The first large publisher of this version was Cambridge University Press.  For those interested in the Bible, it gets even better.

To mark this anniversary the Christadelphians are holding a series of events in Cambridge to give the opportunity to find out more about this amazing book. Throughout its history its message has remained compelling and relevant.

The Bible Exhibition, the largest of its type in the UK will be in Cambridge for two weeks from 18th April. Visit it at The Central Library and the Open up Something Priceless shop in Fitzroy St. It features the largest collection of Bibles touring the UK, a 16th century Hebrew scroll, handwritten on leather and rarely seen outside a synagogue, many display panels and artefacts dating back some 5000 years. With the aid of British Museum replicas of famous archaeological finds such as the Rosetta stone, Cyrus’ cylinder and inscriptions of Nebuchadnezzar it is possible to track our way through history to a very personal and important look at the world today.

‘Bible 4 Life’ events are happening around the country - in Cambridge you are asked to ‘open up something priceless’ and look at the content, not just the history.

Events planned in Cambridge cater for all tastes and ages; whether you wish to browse the exhibition, join in with a seminar, attend a 30 minute presentation, collect some literature or take the kids to a puppet show or face-painting. These are taking place across the City during April.

The Christadelphians have met in Cambridge for over 100 years.  They currently meet at their hall in Vinery Road. You could go along to their meetings and find a refreshing look at the Bible message. The book being celebrated in this 400th anniversary has something for all. Some say it helps answer some of life’s big questions.

So what’s on during the week 17th - 23rd April?
